Graduated from the University of Singapore in 1965 and joined the Singapore Legal and Judicial Service serving as Coroner, Magistrate and State Counsel and Deputy Public Prosecutor. Resigned from the Singapore Legal and Judicial Service in 1968 and has been practicing since in company law, commercial law, conveyancing, banking and insurance.

Currently serves as Member, Military Court of Appeal; Chairman, Criminal Law Advisory Committee (Hearing); Alternate Chairman, Criminal Law Advisory Committee (Review); Chairman, Criminal Law Review Board; Chairman, Citizenship Inquiry Committee; Assistant Registrar of the Small Claims Tribunals; a Justice of the Peace and Member of the Board of Visiting Justices; Vice-Chairman, Arts Appeal Advisory Committee; and Chairman, The Singapore Lyric Opera Ltd.

Currently appointed to the Board of Wallenius Lines Singapore Pte. Ltd., Wallenius Lines Singapore Holding Pte Ltd., Parsifal Shipping Pte. Ltd., Oceanic Services Co. Pte. Ltd. and Eisai Asia Regional Services Pte Ltd.

Awarded SAF Good Service Medal, Public Service Medal and Public Service Star (BAR).
